The following is a list of the 100 largest cities in Africa by city proper population using the most recent official estimate. This reflects only cities located geographically in Africa including nearby islands.

Kinshasa, the capital and largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Africa, is the nation's financial hub and economic center.
Lagos, Nigeria is the second-largest city in Africa and one of the primary economic hubs for the continent.
Cairo, Egypt had formerly been the largest city in Africa, until having recently been overtaken by the fast-growing Lagos and Kinshasa.
