The following is a list of the 100 largest cities in Africa by city proper population using the most recent official estimate. This reflects only cities located geographically in Africa including nearby islands.

Kinshasa, the capital and largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Africa, is the nation's financial hub and economic center.



Abidjan, Ivory Coast's largest city and economic center, also the most populous one in French-speaking West Africa.

Seaside of Egypt's third-largest city and its ancient capital: Alexandria, the largest port in this bicontinental country.
