Kounu

Kounu is a Meitei goddess and one of the Meitei Guardians of the Directions. She is the consort of Lord Koubru, and they are regarded as the deities of Khullakpa in Manipur.[1]

According to legend, she married Koubru and both ruled Kangleipak for a very long time after Ningthou Puthiba.[2]

She dwells in the snows of the far north and she is also known as Kongthem.[3][4]

Pantheon

In the village of Senjan Chirang in Manipur, there is a pantheon of the goddess as "Ebendhou Kounu Lairembi Lai Haraofam".[5]
