On August 4, 2020, it was announced that Netflix had ordered a limited series written and created by Jess Kimball Leslie.[1] It was also announced that Amy Adams will star and executive produce the series, and Adam McKay would direct and also executive produce.[1][2]
The series will be executive produced by Adam McKay and Betsy Koch for Hyperobject Industries, Amy Adams and Stacy O’Neil for Bond Group Entertainment, Jess Kimball Leslie, Diana Son, and Brunson Green.[3] Son will also serve as the series' showrunner.[3]
