Youth

Álvarez was called up by Jaime Lozano to participate with the Mexico national under-23 team at the 2019 Pan American Games.[1] With Mexico winning the third-place match, Mexico received the bronze medal for the tournament.[2]

Senior

On 3 July 2021, Álvarez made his senior debut for Mexico in a friendly match against Nigeria.[3]
