Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal

Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal (born 14 June 1990) is a Norwegian athlete competing in long-distance events.[2] She represented her country at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics and at four world championships. She won the bronze medal at the 2016 in the 10,000 metres event and 2018 European Championships in the 3000 m steeplechase.

Career

As junior Grøvdal won gold medal in 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2007 European Athletics Junior Championships, and gold medals in both 3000 metres steeplechase and 5000 metres at the 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships. She also won the women's junior class at the 2009 European Cross Country Championships.[3]

At senior level she won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Cross Country Championships, a bronze medal in 10,000 metres at the 2016 European Athletics Championships, a bronze medal at the 2016 European Cross Country Championships, and a silver medal at the 2019 European Cross Country Championships.[3] She competed at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics.[4]

During 2021 Grøvdal improved her personal record on several distances, including 1500, 3000, 5000 and 10,000 metres. Participating in a Diamond League event in Brussels in September, she improved her personal record on 5.000 metres to be 14.43,26.[5]
