Karol is a West Slavic (Polish and Slovak) version of the name Charles or Carl. It is also used as a Polish translation of Charles or Karl, especially when referring to Charles Dickens (Polish: Karol Dickens), Karl Marx (Polish: Karol Marks) and Prince Charles (Polish: książę Karol).
