Kanagaratnam Shanmugaratnam
Kanagaratnam Shanmugaratnam (2 April 1921 – 28 July 2018) was a Singaporean pathologist. Shanmugaratnam was considered to be Singapore's "father of pathology" and best known for establishing the Singapore Cancer Registry (SCR) in 1967. He was also a respected expert on nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Career
Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, the chief health scientist and executive director at the Ministry of Health's Office for Healthcare Transformation described Shanmugaratnam as "the pathologist to send the difficult cases which no one else could diagnose to" and "a very humble man and had a brilliant mind but always kind and gentle."
Personal life
He was the father of Singapore Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam.[7]
