Kaatrukkenna Veli (TV series)
Kaatrukkena Veli (What's the need of fence for air?) is a 2021 Indian-Tamil language Romantic drama television series, starring Priyanka Kumar, Swaminathan Anandharaman and Jyothi Rai.[1] It is an official remake of Star Jalsha's Bengali serial Mohor.[2][3]

The show is produced by Endemol Shine India and directed by Francis Kathiravan, that was premiered on 18 January 2021, and airs on Star Vijay and is also available on the digital platform Disney+ Hotstar[4] before it's telecast.
The story of a Vennila (Priyanka Kumar), who is an undergraduate student, who aspires to be a IAS officer . When her father forces her to get married, she runs away from her arranged marriage and comes to a big city to study. Her life changes completely after she comes across Suryakumar (Surya Dharshan K. Raaju/Swaminathan Anandharaman), her professor and both fall in love with each other and [5] yet she fights against adversities in life.
Plot
Vennila is an undergraduate student studying to become an IAS officer. Her father does not support her dreams and arranges for her to get married against her will causing Vennila to run away before her wedding day. She continues going to college and studying with her friends becoming a top student. This is when she encounters an Economics professor and her college's board member, Surya. When finding out that Vennila is his estranged mother Sharadha's student, he dislikes her. As time passes on, he gets to know Vennila more, making him enjoy her presence and comes to like her. Meanwhile, Vennila's brother in law takes an unwanted liking to her causing her all sorts of troubles. Vennila's peer and Surya's sister, Abhinaya hates Vennilla for being a better student than her and Sharadha's pupil and constantly plots ways to kick Vennila out of the college with her twin sister Anandi. Whether Vennila and Surya can survive the chaos thrown at them from their families makes up the rest of the plot.

- An undergraduate student from a small village, who aspires to be a collector. She is a focused and hardworking girl who believes in gender equality. She elopes from her forced wedding in order to pursue her dreams. She moves to Chennai to join the top college there and continue her education. (2021–present)

- A former mygyonist, Vennila's economics professor and a board member of the college. He hated his mother because he assumed that his mother left him to pursue her career. Initially, he hated Vennila as she is Sharadha's student but later accepted her.
- Malavika Avinash (2021) → Jyothi Rai (2021– present) as Sharadha
- Mahadevan's wife, Surya's mother, Vennila's old professor and mentor. Though she left Surya's house to take care of her parents, her son Surya believes that she left for her career. She loves Surya and is Vennila's mentor.

- Surya's younger cousin and Vishwa and Banumathi's daughter. She is a pampered and spoilt girl by Meenakshi. A classmate of Vennila whom she sees as a rival constantly plots to drive Venilla from the college. She was the top student in her class for studies until Vennila arrived. She hates Venilla because Venilla is Sharadha's student. She has a twin sister called Anandi.
