Jordan Humphreys

Jordan Humphreys (born June 11, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent.

Humphreys attended Crystal River High School in Crystal River, Florida, and as a pitcher in his senior year had a 2.15 ERA in 78 innings, allowing 63 hits, walking 19, and striking out 99, as he batted .297/.408/.509 in 165 at bats.[1][2] He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 18th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.[3][4] He signed for a signing bonus of $150,000.[5] He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Mets with whom he posted a 1.54 ERA in 11.2 innings.[6]

Humphreys pitched in 2016 with both the Kingsport Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones, pitching to a combined 3–6 record and 3.58 ERA in 13 games started between both teams, leading the Appalachian League with 76 strikeouts.[6][5] He started 2017 with the Columbia Fireflies (leading the South Atlantic League with a 0.718 WHIP)[5][7][8] and was later promoted to the St. Lucie Mets. In 13 combined games started between the two teams, Humphreys posted a 10–1 record with a 1.79 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP.[9]

Humphreys underwent Tommy John surgery on August 29, 2017, ending his 2017 season.[10]

In the 2019 Arizona Fall League, he gave up one earned run in 11.2 innings.[6] He was named a Rising Star.[11]

Humphreys was added to the Mets 40–man roster following the 2019 season.[12]

Humphreys was designated for assignment on July 29, 2020. On August 2, the Mets traded Humphreys to the San Francisco Giants for Billy Hamilton.[13] On November 20, 2020, Humphreys was designated for assignment.[14]

Humphreys was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Indians on November 25, 2020.[15] The Indians designated Humphreys for assignment on February 24, 2021.[16]

On February 26, 2021, Humphreys was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants.[17]

On March 6, 2021, after being waived by the Giants, Humphreys was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres.[18] On July 19, Humphreys was outrighted off of the 40-man roster and assigned to the Double-A San Antonio Missions.[19] He elected free agency on November 7, 2021.[20]
