Jordan Evans (politician)

Jordan Evans is an American politician who was the only openly transgender Republican Party elected official in the United States.

Evans said she first tried coming out as trans in 2013. "I ended up going back into the closet," she told Cosmopolitan. Eventually, she began transitioning to female in 2015–2016.[1][2]

As of 2016, she was Republican Town Committee secretary in Charlton, Massachusetts and elected trustee of the local library.[3][4] She was elected Town Constable of Charlton in November 2017.[5]

Evans left the Log Cabin Republicans in August 2019 after criticizing them in an op-ed in The Advocate for endorsing President Donald Trump's re-election.[6][7] However, she remained associated with the Republican Party. In 2020, she ran unsuccessfully for Massachusetts Republican State Committee Woman.[8]
