John R. Helliwell
John R. Helliwell is a British crystallographer, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, University of Manchester, a pioneer in using synchrotron radiation.[1]
Education: 1996: DSc (York University, Physics); 1978: Ph.D. (Oxford University, Molecular Biophysics); 1974 BA (York University, Physics 1st class Honours)[2]
Awards
- 2015: European Crystallographic Association Max Perutz Prize for "his long, generous and fruitful dedication to developing all aspects of the use of synchrotron radiation for crystallography and for his boosting support to global development of synchrotron and neutron facilities"[3][4]
- 2014: American Crystallographic Association A. L. Patterson Award for "his pioneering contributions to the development of the instrumentation, methods and applications of synchrotron radiation in macromolecular crystallography"[5]
