Janowo, Nidzica County

Janowo [jaˈnɔvɔ] (formerly known historically in Polish as Janów) is a former town, now a village in Nidzica County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Janowo.[1] It lies approximately 17 kilometres (11 mi) east of Nidzica and 53 km (33 mi) south of the regional capital Olsztyn.

The village has a population of 1,000.

From 1918 to 1939 Janowo was a border village of Poland. The bridge on the Orzyc River was the border between East Prussia and Second Polish Republic as well as Russian Empire and German Empire before 1914. On the German side there was the village of Kamerau.
