James Hype

James E. Marsland (born 28 November 1989), known professionally as James Hype [1] is an English DJ, producer and remix artist from The Wirral. He attended Calday Grange Grammar School and lived in Greasby whilst growing up.[2]

He is best known for his single "More than Friends", released by Warner Music on 7 July 2017. The single reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart[3] and number 1 on the UK dance singles chart.[4] Since then, he has produced other chart singles, including "Afraid" featuring Harlee.

James presented a late night radio show on Thursday nights on UpBeat Radio,[5] from July 2017 to November 2019.[6] James is an ambassador for DJ equipment manufacturer Pioneer DJ and features in their online videos.[7]

Stereohype

James Hype is the founder of the Stereohype label, which was first active in 2020. Releases include those of producers R3WIRE, Tita Lau, Zurra, Dots Per Inch and More Than Friends.
