Jahongir Ahmedov

Jahongir Ahmedov (Russian: Джахонгир Ахмедов; born February 4, 1983) is an Uzbek film director and screenwriter. He is an Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan (2020).[2][3]

Life and career

Ahmedov Jahongir Adilkhodzhevich was born on February 4, 1983, in the Tashkent region. Graduated from the 25th secondary school.[4] From 2002 to 2008 he studied at the Uzbek State Institute of Arts and Culture with a bachelor's and master's degree in directing.[5][6] Associate Professor State Institute of Arts of Uzbekistan.

Ahmedov began his career in big cinema in 2009 with the filming of the romantic comedy "Marriage" (Uylanish). He directed and wrote the screenplay himself, which was his first foray into cinema, but the film was very well received by moviegoers. Jahongir Ahmedov did not stop there In 2010 “Luck” (Omad) and in the same year “From night to dawn” (Yundan tongacha) 2012. “May the tongue wither away” (Tilim qursin) In 2016, “Majnun”.[7]

In 2018, Ahmedov received the historical film "Islam-Khoja", one of the ministers of Khorezm, who made a film about his historical personality.[8] The film was praised by the filmmakers. Islamkhoja's film has been shown not only in Uzbekistan, but also in other countries.[9]

In 2020, he directed the drama film Ilhak, which tells about World War II. Akhmedov was the director and screenwriter of Ilhak.[10][11] The film was shown on TV channels and not in cinemas, as it was quarantined around the world in 2020. Critics highly appreciated the film "Ilhaq".[12] Ilhaq has won several festivals. In particular, it was recognized as the best film at the Falling Leaves festival in Belarus. In Uzbekistan, the winner of the "Golden Khumo" award for the best film.[13] In addition, Jahongir Akhmedov was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of Uzbekistan by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.[14]

During his career, Jahongir Akhmadov made 16 feature films as a director and more than 30 feature films as a screenwriter.

  • 2020 - Member of the Board of the Chamber of Copyrights of Artists and Performers of Uzbekistan.
