Jacob Oliveira

Jacob Oliveira is an American politician serving as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from the 7th Hampden district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 6, 2021.

Early life and education

Oliveira was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts and raised in nearby Ludlow, a descendant of immigrants from Portugal and Poland. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Framingham State University.[1]

Career

Oliveira became involved in local politics at the age of 18 when he was elected a Precinct 1 Town Meeting Member and later began serving on the Ludlow School Committee at the age of 22. After graduating from college, Oliveira worked as a legislative aide for Michael Rodrigues.[2] He has also worked in government relations positions for the nine state universities of Massachusetts .[3] He later became the youngest president of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. During this time, Oliveira was also a member of the Ludlow Democratic Town Committee, serving as chair from 2008 to 2020[4] Oliveira was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in November 2020, representing the 7th Hampden district, and assumed office on January 6, 2021.[1]
