Jack (TV series)

Jack (sometimes called Jack the Explorer[1]) is a 3D-animated TV series broadcast by TVOntario as a part of its TVOKids lineup. It is about an alien named Jack and a brother and sister who make friends with him, while hiding his existence from their parents. First created in 2009, its TV premiere was scheduled for September 5, 2011, but was actually aired two days later. As of October 21, 2014, there are at least 39 22-minute episodes in the series, each consisting of two 11-minute segments, with a total of 78 individually-named stories.

Plot

Jack is a fun-loving alien explorer whose coolest discovery yet is the amazing, planet Earth! With the help of his alien dog Rocket and his robotic assistant C.H.I.P., he sets out on a series of fun and daring adventures to learn all about this strange new planet! Showing him the ropes are his three new friends: a nine-year-old boy named Nico, his little sister Sam, and their slacker pal Yoki. Together they help Jack (and us) understand how things work here on Earth...and beyond!

Jack goes into the sewer system to retrieve Sam's lost toy and ends up lost and stranded in the ocean. The only way back is for the aliens to shrink to microscopic proportions and use the evaporating ocean water to hitch a ride up into the sky then wait for it condenses into raindrops so they can get back down again.
Jack thinks the kids' sudden perfect behaviour is the result of brain damage from a recent haircut. So Jack retrieves their discarded hair, and some extra hair off the hairdresser's floor for good measure, and contrives a way to plant it back into their heads and repair the damage.

Jack decides to "surprise" Nico and Dad by arranging for a meteor to land in the garden during a meteor shower. Unfortunately, Jack has to fess up that the meteor is really just a local rock when he learns that a TV crew is on its way down to authenticate it. Jack has to go find a real meteor while Nico keeps the press far away from the fake one.
When a mechanical dino that Jack has built runs amok, Nico has to use his knowledge of what caused real dinos to become extinct to get rid of the 30' rampaging T-Rex.

The ship gets accidentally magnetized when Jack takes a short-cut through an 'off-limits' galaxy and Jack finds his every move being broadcast across the world. Jack and the kids must figure out how to demagnetize the ship and make people think the footage is a hoax before his secret's out to the entire world. How does a magnet work?
The kids have their hands full trying to keep Rocket under wraps when the little alien dog gets a case of hiccups. Jack can't take him home - Rocket's bouncing about like a rocket everywhere and he'd crash the ship. They'll have to wait it out on Earth. When the kids find out Rocket's hiccups can last anywhere from 8-10 years, they insist Jack go into Rocket and find a way to stop the hiccups internally... before the entire neighbourhood is in on the secret.

When Rocket accidentally licks away a large avant-garde ice sculpture, Jack heads off to Antarctica to find a similar-looking iceberg before the sculpture's imminent unveiling. And when he can't find one that's small enough, he decides to create his own.
A pesky space bug hitches a ride to Earth in Jack's ship and somehow ends up in Nico's ear. It is up to Jack to shrink down and chase out the bug while Sam tries to prevent Nico, who's balance is sorely affected by all the movement in his ear, from trashing the entire garden.

When Jack gets caught up accidentally in a tornado the ship's contents are scattered including Jack's new gadget, the Enlargerator. Jack goes back into the tornado to search for the Enlargerator, not realizing that an unsuspecting Mrs. Weebler has already found it.
Jack reprograms the ship so it can be controlled by Nico's video game-console to help make the kids homework on the Great Barrier Reef more fun. But the fun stops for Jack when Dad spies the cool "video game" and takes control of the ship, leaving the defenseless aliens trying to get it back before a hungry shark gets them.

Jack is horrified when he accidentally tears a spider web, so decides to make the poor little spider a replacement. But making a web is trickier - and stickier- than Jack had thought and results in the aliens and all the garden furniture stuck in a giant sticky web ball. Forced to shrink down so Dad doesn't see them, the aliens have to find a way to get out of their predicament before the original spider makes a meal of them in its new web.
While trying to download instructions into Yoki's brain from C.H.I.P., Jack accidentally presses the wrong switch and the pair do a data brain swap instead. Now C.H.I.P. thinks she's Yoki and Yoki thinks he's Chip. And the only device that can fix the problem is now stuck to a fleeing bat's antennae. Jack has to team up with C.H.I.P., who thinks she's Yoki, while the kids try to keep a suspicious mom away from Yoki, who thinks he's C.H.I.P.

Wanting to provide some ants with a nice new home, Jack inadvertently releases a colony of carpenter ants into Mrs. Weebler's house. Upon realizing his mistake, he shrinks down to explain the mix-up to the ants only to find himself taken prisoner as Mrs. Weebler goes on the warpath against her uninvited house guests.
After a fly accidentally gets caught up in C.H.I.P.'s enlarging ray, Jack manages to corral the giant fly in the woods before anyone sees it, but gets eaten by the giant fly before C.H.I.P. has had a chance to shrink it back to normal size.

When Rocket is nabbed by the dogcatcher from a local park, he finds himself locked in the pound. Jack has to learn how to control the many different types of dogs in the pound, so he can help Rocket and Rocket's new pals break free before the dog catcher's superiors start arriving to see the "new breed of dog" she's discovered.
When Nico gets sick, Jack shrinks down to help Nico's body fight off the attacking virus cells and speed up his recovery only to find himself under attack from Nico's tenacious white blood cells.

A new ship Jack is testing out breaks down in the worst place — on the ocean floor! Before someone spots the errant alien technology, Jack has to find a way to get it to the surface!
Jack mistakes fireflies for fellow aliens. He shrinks down to introduce himself, but gets taken as a prisoner! The three friends manage to escape, but Rocket finds himself trapped in a cocoon. The kids decide to pretend that the cocoon is really a piñata, so their mom doesn't become suspicious.

When Sam gets a toothache, Jack shrinks down for a closer look and retrieves a small blob of the cavity-causing bacteria. Jack befriends the blob and names it Strepto, bringing it back to Beano as a pet. But Strepto grows to giant-sized proportions and runs amok after eating everything in its path.
Jack has created an anti-gravity device, so the kids can experience weightlessness. Everyone is having a great time! That is, until the device goes berserk and turns the garden into a mega-gravity zone! Jack has to find a solution before everything is crushed!

When Rocket gets stuck in a beehive, Jack must sneak into the colony to rescue him. But the little alien accidentally makes the bees mad, and a swarm comes chasing after him!
Jack accidentally ruins the roses Mom has been growing especially for today's flower contest, so the little alien decides to splash some miracle alien fertilizer on the plants to fix his mistake. However, he forgets to mention that the fertilizer has an adverse reaction when mixed with water.

The kids hear on TV that there has been a yeti sighting. Jack decides to check for himself and find out whether these creatures exist or not. With C.H.I.P. and Rocket at his side, he goes to the Himalayas and finds out all about avalanches and the effects of high altitude!

Jack falls asleep during a sleepover with the kids. He starts sleepwalking, causing all sorts of problems. Jack ends up going back to bed in Mom and Dad's bedroom. The kids try to figure out how to get him out without waking him up.

C.H.I.P. bonds with an old robotic toy, so the kids suggest Jack takes the toy home with him, not realizing that Mom has put the toy aside for Mrs. Weebler's charity drive. In order to get the toy back, Jack rigs up a new remote control, and all kinds of confusions ensue.
After Jack experiences the effects of poison ivy, he decides to collect as much of it as he can, to prevent the kids from touching it by accident. What he doesn´t realize is that he's collected enough of it to contaminate the entire planet.

Jack has found his the perfect vacation spot on Earth... a remote volcanic desert island. But when he accidentally causes the volcano to start erupting, he has to find a way to stop the eruption or start searching for a new lava-free destination.

When the family's raft drifts off during their whitewater rafting trip, Jack decides to get it back for them, not anticipating that the raft would get caught up in some rapids and he would have to steer his way out. As if that wasn't enough of a challenge, Jack is dealing with a severe case of motion sickness that causes him to burp fire.
Against the rules, Jack brings a new ship to Earth to test out. He has no idea that a technical problem could turn a regular storm cloud into a cloud of concentrated acid rain, which is due to rain on the pond. He has to find a way to neutralize the acid cloud before a helpless frog in the pond is neutralized instead.

While treasure hunting, the kids and Jack uncover an old mine shaft that leads down to a mining tunnel deep below the ground. Jack goes down to explore and accidentally causes an earthquake, resulting in the aliens getting trapped in a cave-in.
After Rocket eats all of Mom's freshly made fruit jelly, Jack sets off to find more jelly before anyone finds out. The aliens head straight for what Jack is convinced is the source of jelly heaven, a bloom of ultra-poisonous jellyfish.

When Rocket accidentally drains the spaceship of power somewhere in the Amazon, Jack has two options: risk his job and call High Commander for a boost, or try to catch some electric eels and harness their electricity instead. Jack chooses the more pleasant option, but is in for a series of shocks.
Jack decides to test the indestructible chew toy he's made for Rocket on the only animal with a similarly strong bite: the crocodile. The toy passes the test, but unfortunately C.H.I.P. is mistakenly swallowed by the croc. Now Jack has to find a way to get her out, without either of them getting chomped.

Jack drops a tube of super alien glue, which results in Yoki and Sam getting stuck together, C.H.I.P., Rocket and Nico being stuck together, and a miniature Jack being stuck to a jar of peanut butter, which Dad has just pulled out for a snack.
After Jack learns about the dangers of sunburn, he makes the kids the ultimate sun screen, which turns them blue. The kids must avoid Mom and Dad, while Jack and C.H.I.P. figure out how to reverse the sun screen's effects.

A bizarre alien reaction to a bee sting causes Rocket to inflate like a giant floating balloon-and Jack must find a source of adrenaline to help return his pal to normal.

In the Jack mobile and tablet app, the player helps Jack train Rocket, his cute alien dog, so he can become a Super Explorer Dog. By using various touch controls and device manipulations, the player helps Rocket perform a variety of cool skills, such as the Super Jump, Upside Down Walking, the Super Flair, Tongue Stretching, Supersonic Hearing and Air Acrobatics.
