Gameplay
Format
Presented with a group of six "mystery singers" identified only by their occupation, a guest artist and a group of two contestants must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of four rounds. At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.[1]
Rewards
If the singer is good, the contestants win £10,000; if the singer is bad, the same amount is given to the bad singer instead.
Rounds
Each episode presents the guest artist and contestants six people whose identities and singing voices are kept concealed until they are eliminated to perform on the "stage of truth" or remain in the end to perform the final duet.
- Visual round
- First Impressions
The guest artist and contestants are given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance.[lower-alpha 1]
- Lip sync round
- Lip Sync Challenge
Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to a recording of their own performance, while bad singers mime to a recording of someone's else.[lower-alpha 1][lower-alpha 2]
- Evidence rounds
- Unlock my Life
The guest artist and contestants are presented with a video clue package in which one of the mystery singers discusses their life and musical qualifications. Good singers are telling the truth, while bad singers are allowed to lie to deceive them.[lower-alpha 1]
- Home Truths
The guest artist and contestants will have 60 seconds to check inside each of mystery singer's homes that have items that might be true or false.[lower-alpha 2]
- Interrogation round
- Interrogation
The guest artist and contestants must choose one mystery singer to question with. The host is given a list of 15 questions shown on the screen and the artist can ask any of 15 questions within the 30 second time limit.[lower-alpha 1][lower-alpha 2]

Production
Background and development
BBC first announced the development of the series in July 2020.[2] Produced by Naked and Thames (the both production companies as part of Fremantle),[3] the staff team is managed by executive producers Tom O'Brien for Naked, and Amelia Brown and Louis Hutchinson for Thames.[4]
Filming
Filmings for the series took place at The Maidstone Studios, Vinters Park in Maidstone, Kent, in which ITV's rival show Game of Talents also filmed there.[5] The 42nd appeal show of the Children in Need charity broadcast filmed a segment of I Can See Your Voice at Dock10, MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester.[6] Since the first series, tapings have been implemented health and safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Broadcast
History
I Can See Your Voice debuted on 10 April 2021[7][8] despite the viewers complaining that their programming was altered after Prince Philip passed away on 9 April 2021.[9][10] Before the first series finale, the show has been already renewed for the second series premiering in 2022.[11][12]
Special episodes
In the 42nd appeal show of Children in Need charity broadcast on 19 November 2021, the I Can See Your Voice segment[13] featured BBC Breakfast presenter Mike Bushell, newsreader Kate Silverton, and Final Score host Jason Mohammad performing in a lip sync challenge, in which celebrity panellists discovered that Bushell was the bad singer.[14]
As a prelude to the second series, a special celebrity episode with Leona Lewis was aired on the Christmas Eve of 2021.[15][16]
