Head of the Donetsk People's Republic

The Head of the Donetsk People's Republic (Russian: Глава Донецкой Народной Республики, romanized: Glava Donetskoy Narodnoy Respubliki) is the highest elected official of the Donetsk People's Republic, a partially recognised state[1] backed by Russia, located on the territory of Donetsk Oblast (province) in eastern Ukraine. According to the Constitution, the Head of the people's republic is the head of state and has executive power.

Elections

Elections of the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic are carried out on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot for a period of five years. The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic is a citizen of the DPR who does not have foreign citizenship, is not younger than 30 years old, has the right to vote and has no criminal record. For registration, the candidate must provide at least 10,000 signatures of voters. The same person cannot be the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic for more than two consecutive terms.[2]
