Hatice Sultan (daughter of Bayezid II)

Hatice Sultan was the eldest daughter of Bayezid II and Bülbül Hatun.

Biography

She first married Muderis Kara Mustafa Pasha in 1479, who was the vizier during the marriage. With him she had a son Ahmed (born 1480) and Hanzade Hanımsultan|. The marriage lasted four years, until the pasha was executed.

According to the legend, Gedik Ahmed Pasha convinced the sultan that Hatice Sultan and her husband were supporters of Cem Sultan, which is why Sultan Bayezid II executed him. After that, Hatice got angry with her father, left Istanbul, settled in Bursa, and did not speak to anybody.

In return, her father married her to Faik Pasha[1] the following year.

Death

According to a rumor, after a while, her body developed rashes and wounds. They were healed with spring water at the place of mausoleum, but without success. When she died , her son built a mausoleum named after her in Bursa.
