Guru Thakur
Guru Thakur (Marathi: गुरु ठाकूर) is an Indian poet, lyricist, script writer, actor and playwright from Mumbai (Maharashtra), renowned for his noteworthy contribution towards Marathi and Hindi film industry. He rose to fame after his maiden song "Man Udhaan Varyaache" that became an instant hit which was his debut as a lyricist in the Marathi film "Aga Bai Arrecha". Ever since then he has been writing lyrics and screenplays for a variety of Marathi and Hindi films, primarily for Marathi movies. His outstanding performance, as a dialogue/lyrics writer and an actor in the movie "Natrang" brought him into the lime light. All of his songs from Natrang, Khel Mandla, Atta Vajle ki bara, Apsara Aali, Natrang Ubha etc became very popular and reached the masses.

Up to the present day, he has contributed to more than 100 Marathi and Hindi films.
He has been honoured with many awards for his significant contribution in literature and film.
Early Life
Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Guru started his career at the age of 19 as a political cartoonist at Marathi weekly Marmik. Subsequently he worked as a newspaper columnist at the newspapers, Tarun Bharat, Pudhari, Maharashtra Times[1] and Nava Kaal. From 1999 onwards, he started writing/acting for television, theatre and movies.
Career as Lyricist
Guru Thakur has penned down lyrics for many Marathi and hindi movies, primarily for Marathi movies. His most popular songs, hummed and loved by one and all are, Man Udhan Varyache, Hi Gulabi Hawa, Ka Jeev Tola Tola, Mauli Mauli, Mala Ved Lagale, Devak Kalji Re, Mere Marad Ka Mijas Bhari, just to mention a few. The song Devak Kalji Re from the movie “Redu” has about 150 million views on YouTube.
Career as Scriptwriter
Guru Thakur has written dialogues/scripts for the TV shows, Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre, for the play Bhayya Haat Paay Pasari, and for the popular movies, Aga bai Arrecha[2], Natarang[3]. Bhikari[4] and Narbachi Wadi[5], to name a few.
Career as Poet
His beautiful compilation of poems and prose are loved by one and all. His poem "Ase Jagave", and the prayer "Tu Buddhi De" from the movie Dr. Prakash Baba Amte[6] have been included in the State board's school curriculum of Maharasthra. Recently he published a poetry book "Anaahat" on Amazon kindle service which gained worldwide popularity.
