Gran Hermano VIP (season 8)

Gran Hermano VIP 8 is the upcoming eighth season of the reality television Gran Hermano VIP series. After months of speculation as to whether the series would return with a new season in 2021,[1][2] Telecinco formally announced the new season of Gran Hermano VIP on June 8, 2021 and is expected to debut during the fall of the same year.[3] The presenters for this season's main shows plus Debate, Límite 48H and other side shows will be revealed at a later date.

Season chronology

This season comes after the longest hiatus the Spanish adaptation has ever endured in its history.[4] The hiatus surged after Telecinco & production company Zeppelin faced backlash after the sexual assault incident that took place during the last civilian series,[5][6] which aired in 2017 and that went into trial while Gran Hermano VIP 7 was reaching its final weeks on the air. This provoked a massive loss in advertisers for the show at that time.[7] On the press release, both the network and the show's production company, have made an agreement that from now on a stricter protocol will be used when it comes to sexual abuse/assault situations that might happen while a season is taking place.[8]

On July 9, 2021 Mediaset España announced that this series would now air sometime in 2022.[9] GH VIP 8 will be replaced in Fall 2021 with the first series of the Spanish adaptation of Secret Story.[10]
