Geretta Geretta

Geretta Geretta (also known as Geretta/Geretta, Geretta Giancarlo, Janna Ryann) is an American actress, director, screenwriter and producer, born in Portland Oregon July 15, 1958, who has worked in Ireland, South Africa, Italy, Switzerland and the United States. Geretta has completed the MFA program in screenwriting at the American Film Institute.

In 1996, Northern Ireland Film and Television Collective ; Northern Visions published her collection of 100 poems and verse titled Pardon Me While I Eat My Young out of Belfast, Northern Ireland.[1] A horror feature film being co-produced by Lamberto Bava and Kansas Bowling was made under her direction. While living in New Orleans she has been writing her first novel, tentatively titled: I Was Young and Needed Money, which chronicles her early years as a horror scream queen in Europe.

Geretta also acted as the creative director of the non-profit "TheWriteRoom.org" The group cites its motivation as "to advance the impact of women in the media via the literary creative arts and allied fields by educating, advocating and housing."[2] The Write Room sponsorsed an annual screenwriting competition, open to all submissions either written by women or having a strong female lead in a non-stereotypical portrayal. In addition, the group maintained property in Costa Rica's Guanacaste Region and offers a residency program to female writers seeking a space of their own in which to carry out their art.[3]

She has directed the 2001 Swiss feature film Sweetiecakes, starring Stephanie Berger[4] and Urs Althaus, was writer and coproducer the 2006 film project (in turn around) Whitepaddy, adapted from her Sundance Writers Lab Finalist screenplay ("WHEN FISH FLY") once to star: Sherilyn Fenn, Lisa Bonet, Hill Harper, Karen Black and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.[5] The project is currently archived.

Geretta has starred in many Italian horror films such as Lucio Fulci's Murder Rock, Bruno Mattei's Rats: Night of Terror, and Lamberto Bava's Demoni. Geretta was awarded as Best Female Director in the Melbourne Underground Film Festival and Action On Film Festival 2008 and appeared in the music video Get Close for the band CRXMusic co starring Christina Marie Masterson directed by Kansas Bowling. She appears as Self Interview in the 4-hour plus HorrorDocu : In Search of Darkness: Part II (2020) produceed and directed by David A. Weiner.
