Gerald Strickland (British Army officer)

Military career
Strickland was commissioned into 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles on 3 September 1989.[1] He undertook a tour in Afghanistan as commanding officer of the 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles in Helmand Province in 2010,[2] where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Order.[3] He went on to become commander of 4th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters North East in May 2015,[4] Head of Operations (Military) at the Ministry of Defence in January 2017, and Deputy Commanding General-Support, III Corps and Fort Hood in May 2019.[5] After that he became General Officer Commanding, 6th (United Kingdom) Division in September 2021.[6]
He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2006 New Year Honours.[7]
