Career

Born in Glasgow, Pattulo moved to Barcelona in Spain whilst working as a coal trader, playing rugby, hockey, tennis and eventually football there.[1] He made his football debut for Barcelona in September 1910, and scored 41 goals in 20 matches during the 1910–11 season.[5] He played for Barcelona between September 1910 and May 1911, and again for one match in March 1912.[1] He scored a total of 43 goals in 23 games for the club.[1] He has been described as the club's "most influential British import of all-time."[3] He originally played as a goalkeeper, but later converted to a forward.[1] Pattullo remained as an amateur player, and refused to sign for city rivals Espanyol.[6]

He left Barcelona before World War I, returning to Great Britain to join the Tyneside Scottish Brigade; he was awarded the Military Cross.[3] He also managed Club Baleares briefly in 1930.[3] He had returned to Spain in 1928 after being the climate would help with his recovery from being gassed during World War I.[1]
