Géraud de Geouffre de La Pradelle

Géraud de Geouffre de La Pradelle de Leyrat, born in 1935, is an international jurist and a professor of French law.

Biography

Family

He is the son of the far-right lawyer Raymond de Geouffre de la Pradelle, the grandson of Albert de Geouffre de La Pradelle and the uncle of Anne-Véronique Herter. He has two children with Claire Bardon Florence (wife Cédric Thomas) and Laure (wife François de Montpellier de Vedrin).

Emeritus Professor of the University of Nanterre,[1][2] he was "eaten", from 1982 to 1988, by the center for information on Palestinian and Lebanese prisoners.[3]

Author of the first Que sais-je?, in 2003, on The rights of homosexuals, with Caroline Mécary, he supports the Swiss Islamologist, Tariq Ramadan, accused of sexual assault, in 2018.[4]

In 2004, he chaired the Citizens' Commission of Inquiry into the Involvement of France in Rwanda, a collective without legal status bringing together three associations denouncing France's action in Rwanda.

He writes in Le Monde diplomatique.[5] He is a member of the sponsoring committee of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine, the beginning of the work of which was presented on March 4, 2009.

In 2014, he accused the ordinance for Rwanda of Judge Jean-Louis Bruguière of constituting a "negationist object" on several counts, using the theories of double genocide, spontaneous genocide and genocide provoked.[6]
