Fortress (2021 film)
Fortress is a 2021 American action film directed by James Cullen Bressack and written by Alan Horsnail, based on a story by Emile Hirsch and Randall Emmett. It stars Jesse Metcalfe, Bruce Willis, Chad Michael Murray, Kelly Greyson, Ser'Darius Blain, and Shannen Doherty. It is the first film in a trilogy: it was followed by The Fortress 2 (2022) which will be followed by The Fortress 3. The film was released in select theaters and on video on demand by Lionsgate Films on December 17, 2021.

Plot
Robert and his son Paul live in a top-secret resort for retired U.S. intelligence officers. A group of criminals breaches the compound and the pair has to save the day.

Production
Filming began on May 3, 2021, in Puerto Rico. The film was announced that same day as the first part in a trilogy of films starring Jesse Metcalfe, Bruce Willis, Chad Michael Murray, and Kelly Greyson. The second film, titled The Fortress 2, was shot back-to-back with the first;[2] production on the trilogy concluded on November 3, 2021.[3][4][5] On May 15, 2021, director James Cullen Bressack said filming on the first film had wrapped.[6]
Release
The film was released in select theaters and on video on demand by Lionsgate Films on December 17, 2021.[7]
Reception
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 20% of 5 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 4.9/10.[8] At the 42nd Golden Raspberry Awards, the film received a nomination in a new category: Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie.[9] The category was later rescinded after Willis' retirement due to aphasia.[10]
