Fortis FC

Fortis FC Limited (Bengali: ফর্টিস এফসি লিমিটেড) is a Bangladeshi football club based in Badda that competes in the Bangladesh Championship League, the second tier of Bangladesh football.[1][2]

History

In 2020, Fortis Group established Fortis FC as part of their sports development project. On 4 February 2020, Bangladesh Football Federation gave the green signal to the club to participate in Bangladesh Championship League.[3][4]

2020–21

Before the start of the 2020–21 Bangladesh Championship League season, Fortis signed 10 former BPL players. Notable among them were Khan Mohammad Tara, Uttam Barua and former Bangladesh national team striker Towhidul Alam Towhid. They also appointed head-coach Akbor Hossain Ridon, who previosuly won the U-18 championship with NoFeL SC.[1] On 8 February 2021, Fortis FC played its inaugural match, which ended in a 0–0 draw against Farashganj SC in the 2021 Bangladesh Championship League.[5] On 1 March 2021, the club registered their first victory over Dhaka Wanderers Club by beating them 3–2, in which Mohammad Hasanuzzaman registered the first-ever goal for the club.[6] During their debut season, Fortis finished in 3rd place and were only 2 points off from the top spot. The clubs impressive inaugural campaign saw them only suffer three defeats from 22 league games.[7]
