History

IAFFE established the journal in 1995, with Diana Strassmann as its founding editor.[2]

According to the journal's first call for papers, it was primarily interested in the relationship between gender and the economy, and specifically how concepts and constructs of economics are viewed from a feminist perspective.[3]

Feminist Economics was voted "Best New Journal" by the Council of Editors of Learned Journals in 1997.[4]
