Plot

Irfan Ahmed, an IIT Madras gold medalist based in Triplicane, Chennai is living with his friends and constable mother Praveena Begum. He is in relationship with Prathana Raman, who is a Junior lawyer by profession. Irfan unsuccessfully attends job interviews, while working part time with a perfume factory. Tired of being questioned on his religious beliefs during interviews, Irfan decides to join full time perfume business, which is headed by Perumal and his son Karthikeyan.

He visits various locations in the country to shop for chemicals. On his way back from Hyderabad, Irfan loses his mobile. Frustrated that he might miss his flight to Chennai, Irfan mistakenly threatens the airport officials that he will bomb Hyderabad, which leads to his arrest, but is released and reaches Chennai. Later the same phone was found in Hyderabad blast site and Irfan is arrested again, where he is detained under the orders of NIA advisor Ajay Dewan and is interrogated by NIA officer Anisha Qureshi and low-ranking police officer Gunashekhar.

He is believed to be the most wanted terrorist dubbed Abu Bakhr Abdullah. Irfan is branded as a terrorist and is portrayed as the evil incarnate by media trials. Irfan escapes from police custody and finds that Praveena Begum has died, leaving Irfan devastated. Irfan visits Perumal's factory where Anisha surrounds him, but is shot by the Karthikeyan, who is revealed to be the real Abu Bakhr Abdullah. He asks Irfan to invent the sarin bomb. When the bomb activation is invented, Abu activates the bomb and tells his henchman to kill Irfan, but Irfan kills the henchman, including Abu Bakhr's brother and Abu Bakhr with the help of a woman named Archana Krishnamoorthy.

Gunashekhar and police officers surrounds the factory under the orders of Ajay Dewan and the government fires a military missile. The factory is destroyed by the missile, seemingly killing Irfan. Ajay Dewan is congratulated for preventing the gas attack. Later, It is revealed that Irfan is also an NIA officer, (whose real identity is unknown) who along with another NIA officer Archana Krishnamoorthy and Ajay Dewan had planned the entire operation to kill Abu Bakhr Abdullah, who is planning the sarin gas attack on the city of Chennai and lived as an ordinary chemical engineer.

With Archana's help, Irfan kills Ashraf, who is actually supplying chemicals to Abu Bakhr. Ajay, Irfan and Archana actually planned a blast in Hyderabad to brand Irfan as Abu Bakhr Abdullah, in order to lure the real Abu Bakhr. It is also revealed that Irfan actually survived the attack and is on another mission where Ajay Dewan calls him as Faizal Ibrahim Raiz, and declares him as the righteous king of India.
