Dhan Singh Negi

Dhan Singh Negi is an Indian politician and member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly representing the Tehri constituency in Tehri Garhwal district. He is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC).[2] Previously, Negi was member of BJP.[3]

Early life and education

Negi was born in Palcot, a remote village in Patti Lamridhar, Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand), India. His education included a Master of Physics at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and a Bachelor of Education teaching qualification. He was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 2019.

Career

Negi was chairman of the Aanchal Milk Cooperative Society in Tehri Garhwal between 2009 and 2012. He was elected to the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly in 2017, defeating the incumbent, Dinesh Dhanai, a cabinet minister.[4]

He sits on the Public Sector Units & Municipal Oversight and the Information Technology Policy committees of the Uttarakhand Assembly. Negi is a member of the board of Doon University and the Uttarakhand State Wildlife Board.
