Craig Hoy

Craig William Hoy[1] is a Scottish Conservative Party politician. He has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the South Scotland region since the election in May 2021.[2]

He also stood in East Lothian.[3] He is a member of the East Lothian Council, representing the Haddington and Lammermuir ward,[4] having been elected in a by-election in 2019.[5] He is the Scottish Conservatives' Shadow Minister for social care and mental health.[6][7]

He is a member of the Scottish Parliament's Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee and the Public Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Candidates Board of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.

Hoy contested the East Lothian seat in the 2019 United Kingdom general election, where he finished third.[8] He is a former journalist,[5] having worked for the BBC and was a cofounder of Holyrood magazine.[9][10] He became a managing director of Dods, the political intelligence, media, events and training company.

Since his election, he has promoted the next generation of nuclear energy in Scotland.

Hoy is the Convenor of the Cross-Party Group on Beer and Pubs and a Member of the Cross-Party Group on Mental Health.

He appears regularly on broadcast media and writes a fortnightly column for The Scottish Daily Express and The East Lothian Courier.

Hoy lives with his partner in East Lothian.
