Background

Consider This was originally called Coronavirus Daily, but changed its name.[1][2] Consider This originally only covered national news.[3] The show is produced in ten different regions: Boston (WBUR and WGBH), Chicago (WBEZ), Dallas/Fort Worth (KERA), Los Angeles (KPCC and KCRW), Minneapolis/St. Paul (MPR), New York (WNYC), Philadelphia (WHYY), Portland OR (OPB), San Francisco (KQED), Washington D.C.(WAMU).[4][5] These ten regions are only the pilot group, which NPR plans to exand in the future.[6] The hosts of the national stories include Kelly McEvers, Ailsa Chang, Audie Cornish, Mary Louise Kelly, and Ari Shapiro.[7] Arun Rath from GBH and Paris Alston from WBUR host the local news in Boston.[8][9] Rebeca Ibarra was the producer and host of the New York edition of the show in 2020.[10] Janae Pierre is the producer and host of the New York edition of the show.[11][12][13] NPR partnered with AdsWizz to provide local reporting the same way that localized advertising is done and uses designated market areas provided by Nielsen Media Research.[14][15]
