The genus name of Clauzadeana is in honour of F.J. Georges Clauzade (1914–2002) a French teacher and botanist (Mycology and Lichenology).[2]
The genus was circumscribed by Claude Roux in Bull. Soc. Linn. Provence Vol.35 on page 101 in 1984.
