Ciara Charteris

Ciara Charteris (born 3 August 1995), is a South Africa-born British actress.[1] She is best known for the role "Emma Tregirls" in the television serial Poldark.[2][3]

Personal life

Charteris was born on 3 August 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa. In January 1998, she moved to Clapham, London with her family when she was just three years old.[4][3]

In December 2019, she revealed that she was raped by a close friend during a night out for her friend's birthday. However, she did not report it to the police but told her female friend in the next day.[5]

Career

She studied drama and acting from National Youth Theatre and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama for two years.[2] She started acting career in 2010 where she appeared in the film Mum's List directed by Niall Johnson. In 2016, she acted in the British miniseries Close to the Enemy directed by Stephen Poliakoff ,where she played the role of "Lucy Lindsay Jones".[3] Then in 2017, she played a minor role as "nurse Flora Byron" in the film Endeavor. In 2017, she also participated in the film Mary Shelley directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour and played the role "Harriet Shelley". In 2018, she became a series regular after joined the cast of season 3 in the television series Poldark and played the role "Emma Tregirls".[6]
