Chris Jones (basketball, born 1993)

Chris Jones (born April 10, 1993) is an American professional basketball player who plays for ASVEL of the LNB Pro A and the EuroLeague. He plays at the point guard position.

Personal life

His hometown is Garland, Texas.[1] Jones is the son of Latonya McCoy, and has two siblings, D’merhic and London.[2] He is 6' 2" (188 cm), and weighs 200 pounds (91 kg).[1]

Basketball career

High school career

Jones attended and played basketball at Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Class of 2011.[1][3] He averaged 16.9 points per game, and was District 10-5A’s MVP as a junior and senior.[2] He led the Dallas-Fort Worth area with 6.9 assists per game during his senior season.[2] He was inducted into the Garland Sports Hall of Fame while at Centennial.[2]

College career

Jones played three seasons at the University of North Texas, where he was the school's third all-time steals leader (127), and sixth in career assists (282).[2] As a freshman at UNT, Jones set the freshman record with 4.26 assists per game, and averaged 14.1 points per game which was the 19th-highest nationally among freshmen.[2]

He attended Angelo State University for his senior season, Class of 2015, and averaged 15.3 points per game with 4.7 assists and 2.1 steals.[1][3] In 2015 Jones was Lone Star Conference All-First Team, Lone Star Conference All-Defensive Team, and National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District South Central First Team.[1]

Professional career

Jones played point guard for Maccabi Tel Aviv of the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroLeague, with whom he signed in 2020.[1][4][5] On July 10, 2021, he officially parted ways with the Israeli powerhouse.

On July 20, 2021, he signed with ASVEL of the French LNB Pro A. ASVEL also plays in the EuroLeague. [6]
