Candle in the Tomb (TV series)

Candle in the Tomb (Chinese: 鬼吹灯之精绝古城) is a 2016 Chinese streaming television series based on the novel Ghost Blows Out the Light. It is directed by Kong Sheng, produced by Hou Hongliang and stars Jin Dong, Joe Chen and Zhao Da.[1] It tells the story of a gang of tomb raiders as they go on adventures and unearth the truth behind a mysterious curse.[2] The drama aired 3 episodes every Monday at 20:00 on Tencent Video from 19 December 2016.

Plot

A former soldier named Hu Bayi becomes part of an archaeological team to find the location of a mysterious city.

He acquired specialized knowledge on how to find a grand tomb through fengshui by a book inherited from his grandfather whom also happened to be a tomb raider during his younger days. Charismatic and well versed in both astrology and fengshui, Hu Bayi is the main character to follow in this epic adventure of tomb discovery.
Joe ChenShirley YangRich American-born Chinese. A female photographer for National Geographic. Resourceful and calm, she was the main fund sponsor of the group to search for the ancient city. Unknowingly, Hu bayi synchronised very well with Shirley Yang and always managed to get the group to safety with their teamwork.
Zhao DaWang KaixuanHu Bayi's best friend and right hand man. An unsung hero that always handle the unseen and minor but yet important issues for the group safety amd wellness. Although occasionally loud and greedy at the sight of precious items, he is definitely the person that Hu Bayi depend on during the most critical moment.
Yue YangBig Golden ToothAn antique dealer who became friends with Hu Bayi and Wang Kaixuan. He is the main influencer to encourage Hu Bayi to use his secret knowledge of fengshui to make a living. Big golden tooth was also the person who referred Hu Bayi and Wang Kaixuan to join Professor Chen expedition to search for the ancient city in the black desert.
Wang YongquanAn LimanAn Liman is of Han descendant but leads a nomad life and was known to be a living map of the desert. He was onced saved by a holy white camel in the desert and his camels became his most important possession in his life. With Professor Chen and Hu Bayi entourage, he was hired to assist in the search for the ancient city in the Black Desert.
Yang XinmingProfessor ChenProfessor Chen is a highly educated person, an antique expert and the expedition leader of the entire ancient city archaeological team. In the archaeological work of the ancient city, he was able to explain the various relics and strange creatures found in the archaeological process. Unfortunately Professor Chen ended up looses his mind.
Feng HuiHao AiguoHao Aiguo is a student of Professor Chen, and his intellectual atmosphere is strong. Follow Professor Chen's archaeological team to find the ancient city, responsible for the work of the entire archaeological team. At first, he dislike the presence of Hu Bayi & Wang Kaixuan, but became full of admiration after he heard Hu Bayi explanation on the stars and universe of Feng Shui. Unfortunately, he was killed by a serpent in the desert before the group reached the ancient city.
