Campo de Rugby Las Terrazas

Campo de Rugby Las Terrazas is a Spanish rugby union stadium in Alcobendas, Madrid. It is located between La Moraleja and Arroyo de la Vega, behind the Diversia shopping centre, a few metres away from Anabel Segura Civic Centre. It is the home ground of the local team, Alcobendas Rugby, who play in the División de Honor[1] league as well as the defunct club Moraleja Alcobendas Rugby Unión. In 2009, during the only Liga Superibérica season, it was one of the home grounds of the Madrid-based franchise Gatos de Madrid.[2]

Facilities

The facilities consist of a rugby field with natural grass, a covered grandstand on one side, changing rooms for home and away teams and referees, and two small sports equipment storage areas. Additionally, the club's bar is open on match days, which is also responsible for preparing the popular after-match parties.[3]

Recently there has been speculation about the possibility of the facilities being demolished to build an underground parking lot that would decongest the area, which lacks parking zones. However, this plan seems to have been rejected temporarily by the Alcobendas city hall.

Renovations

In 2018[4][5] the stadium had several important renovations with the installation of artificial grass,[6] (which noticeably increased the width and length of the playing field to adapt it to the official international measurements[7]), as well the construction of a new perimeter zone, new seats and new floodlight towers.[8]
