Known for its remoteness, Matapalo is an area amongst jungle and ocean. The Matapalo region has beaches, surf points and natural scenery which has its proximity to Corcovado National Park. Matapalo's exuberant wild life enables one to spot macaws flying over your head, and howler monkeys among many other species.[1]

There is an active lighthouse on the point.[2][3]
