Spain are the current champions, after defeating France 2–1 (after extra time) in the 2021 final to win their eighteenth title. The most successful team is Portugal, who have won the competition twenty-one times.

Tournaments
- In 1936 and then from 1939 to 1956, the tournament was also considered a World Cup.
- Originally scheduled to be held in July 2020, at La Roche-sur-Yon, the tournament was delayed and his location changed to Paredes due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe.
