Education
Lahiri is an alumnus of the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, where he earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in electrical and electronics engineering. Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, is part of the CK Birla Group. He also holds an MBA from the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA.[3]
Career
Anjan is a seasoned Global Information Services Executive with experience working in the US, London, and Bangalore. Over more than three decades, he has led several mid-sized IT Services organizations to deliver superior Information Technology Services to Global Fortune 500 clients.
Building on core experience in Consulting and Sales, Anjan co-founded Mindtree in 1999 along with people from Wipro and Cambridge Technology Partners, he being the common bridge in the team, having worked in both organizations. He established the company on the East Coast and Silicon Valley in the US and also set up their European operations before taking over Global Responsibility for their IT Services division as the President from 2008 to 2013. He led the change in company culture with strategy and achieved results through focused implementation and consistently delivered industry leading growth in their IT Services division over the five year period, which is considered to be the time when Mindtree’s growth foundation was established.
In 2013 he joined as the CEO of Sasken, a telecom products company, whose revenues and profitability had been in decline for six years. Within one year, he established a ‘Vision’ and ‘Strategy’, recruited a team, stabilized performance, diversified the business, focused the sales efforts, and improved key operating parameters thus bringing ‘Hope and Self Confidence’ back in Sasken.
From April 2015 he led Birlasoft. which was then a $160M company and had experienced 3% CAGR in the 10 years prior. Under Anjan’s leadership, Birlasoft registered an organic growth of over 15% for three years and eliminated severe dependence on the top customer. He was responsible for the acquisition and integration of a $350M company with Birlasoft, to complete their turnaround in four years.
He started his career at Wipro, and then was with Cambridge Technology Partners, a Boston based leading IT Services company of the times.
Personal life
He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, a global peer network of chief executives and business leaders. He is married and has a daughter and a son. His father was an officer, in the Indian Army's Gorkha regiment.[4]
