Abdul Rahman Bukhatir

Abdul Rahman Bukhatir is an Emirati cricket patron who is the founder of Bukhatir Group.[1] He is known as Kerry Packer of Gulf region.[2] He was the founder of Cricketers Benefit Fund Series, which aimed to benefit retired cricket from Indian subcontinent.[3] He also founded Ten Sports.[4] He is the father of Nasheed singer Ahmed Bukhatir.

He is the incumbent chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board.[5]

Early life

Bukhatir grew up in Pakistan where he received his education.[2]

Career

He made transformed, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, from a stadium in desert, to one of the historic and Guinness Book of World Records-holder cricket ground.[6][3] In 1981, he organised cricket match between Gavaskar XI and Miandad XI.[3]

He also helped set up Al Dhaid Cricket Village.[7]

In February 2018, he received Lifetime Achievement Award category in the Shyam Bhatia Annual Awards.[7]
