Wasa people

Territory
Wassa territory covers 9,638 km2, almost the same as Central Region (9,826 km2); Western Region as a whole now covers 14,293 km2.{TMLT,2021}
The prominent towns in Wassa are: Samreaboi, Asankrangwa, Manso-Amenfi, Wasa Akropong, Bawdie, Bogoso, Prestea, Huni Valley, Aboso, Damang, Awodua, Nsuem, Tarkwa, Daboase, Nsuta, Pieso, Manso, Dompim Pepesa, Benso, Adum Banso, Subri, and Mpohor.{List of Districts in Ghana,2022}}
Wassa is the largest tribe in Western Region in terms of land and population.{Map of Western Region 2021} The territory is the most mineral resourced territory in Ghana. Gold is found almost every part of the area. Tarkwa, Prestea, Bogoso, Wassa Akropong, Damang, Huni Valley, Asankragwa, Aboso, Nsuem, Akyempim have Gold. Mining companies in the area include Goldfields Ghana, Golden Star Wassa, Anglo Gold Iduaprim, Africa Mining Services (AMS) and a lot of small scale mining companies.
Prestea-Huni Valley Distrist and the Wassa Amenfi area are the highest producer of Cocoa in Ghana. Nsuta is also known for Manganese (Ghana Manganese Company Limted). Samreaboi is known for lumber. Benso-Adum Banso is known for the oil-palm.
Wassa is the richest territory in Ghana.
