Mary's posture is used to symbolize her status as the Mother of Christ. The panoramic view behind Mary suggests that she has come a long way. Mary stands up straight where Elizabeth has her knee slightly bent towards the ground. Both women place a hand on each other's stomach. By the door to the mansion Elizabeth's husband Zachary, is playing with a dog.[1]
