Overview

TrendSpider provides technical analysis software for retail traders and investors focused on the US equity and foreign exchange markets, using artificial intelligence and machine algorithms to automate many of the routine manual tasks that investors do, such as identify key price levels, draw trendlines, and recognize candlestick patterns and formations.[10][11]

Users can adjust how aggressive the platform's automated analysis is, allowing users to identify both high-confidence and less likely structures on price charts. TrendSpider is also known for its automated alert system,[12] which is designed to abstract user defined criteria and specified parameters to monitor price charts remotely from a cloud system.[10][13]

TrendSpider's Raindrop Charts measure changes in market volume flow and price[2] instead of measuring price changes alone. Raindrop Charts use a combination of price development and volume-weighted average price (VWAP) data to visualize markets.[2][14] Unlike traditional candlestick charts, Raindrop Charts do not feature open and close prices.[3]

History

TrendSpider was founded by Dan Ushman[15][16] and Ruslan Lagutin in 2016.[17][7][8] Prior to founding TrendSpider, Ushman had co-founded the web hosting company SingleHop in 2006, which was acquired by Internap in 2018.[7][8][9]

TrendSpider introduced Raindrop Charts in 2019.[2][10]

TrendSpider also has a weekly educational web series called the Stock Trading Pit Show.[18]

Raindrop Charts

TrendSpider has developed a new type of financial chart known as the Raindrop Charts,[2] which has been used in the financial industry, including by media outlets such as Nasdaq,[5] Yahoo! Finance, and TheStreet.[6] Raindrop charts incorporate volume analysis directly into the price bars by way of histogram and volume-weighted average price (VWAP) calculations.[14][19][20] This allows the charts to illustrate  the direction of price movement, the length of time it took for a price to reach a specific value, and the flow of volume during price movement.[2][19][21] This data allows users to visually identify areas of market confusion as well as the strength of directional breakouts and trends.[22]
