Train Jam
Train Jam is a game jam (video game development event) which happens annually. It occurs aboard an Amtrak train, which travels from Chicago IL to San Francisco CA on the days immediately preceding the Game Developers Conference.
Train Jam is a unique game jam in many ways. There is no internet aboard the train during the trip which actually encourages a strong sense of community and teamwork amongst the participants.[1] Secondly, many prominent members of the indie game development community have participated in past train jams.[2] In addition to being a magnet for professional and independent developers, train jam has a flourishing "student ambassador" program and has included students throughout every jam [3]
Train Jam started in 2014 and occurred every year up to 2019 at which point it was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Readers can play past games made at train jam for free on various websites [4][5]
