Tariq Mahmood-Ul-Hassan

Syed Tariq Mahmood-Ul-Hassan is a Pakistani international relations expert,legal expert, published author, who is currently serving as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan (SAPM) for the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development from 20 January 2022.[1][2] Before this appointment, Mahmood-Ul-Hassan was heading the Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab which is governed by the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission Act 2014. Prior to him, Zulfi Bukhari was the Special Assistant To the Prime Minister for the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development.[3]

Education

Mahmood-Ul-Hassan holds a Master's degree in Laws (LLM) along with a Business degree from the University of Northampton.[2]

Career

Mahmood-Ul-Hassan was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab on 21 September 2021 by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar. Previously he has been serving in the capacity of president of the World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis for the United Kingdom from 2017-to 2021.[4]

Personal life

On June 18, 2018, Mahmood-Ul-Hassan lost his two sons, Syed Imam Zamam, thirteen, and Syed Ali Zamam, nine, who died in a crash while on a family holiday near Okara, in Punjab Pakistan.[5][6] He set up Ali Zamam Trust in memory of his deceased children to support young children in need.[7]

Books

Mahmood-Ul-Hassan authored A World in Chaos: Perspectives into the Post Corona World in 2020 which was published by a New York based publisher Hay House.[8] He also authored Dunya Badal Rahi Hey in 2021, a book in Urdu that has deep insights into the ever-changing world.[9]
