Surf Curse

Surf Curse is an American surf rock band formed in 2013 in Reno, Nevada. It currently consists of Nick Rattigan (lead vocals, drums) and Jacob Rubeck (guitars).[1]

History

Since the band's formation, they have released three full-length albums and one extended play.[2] Though they are originally from Reno, Nevada, they have since moved to Los Angeles, California, where they have become a part of the local DIY, all-ages punk scene. In 2016, the band played at the annual Beach Goth festival, hosted by Eric Andre and The Growlers.[3]

In May 2021, after becoming popular on TikTok, "Freaks" reached number 64 on the UK Singles Chart, eight years after it first appeared on their debut album Buds.[4]

Musical style

Surf Curse's music has been described as surf rock,[5] lo-fi,[6] garage pop,[7] surf punk,[8] post-punk,[9] surf pop,[10] indie rock,[11] indie pop,[12] and jangle pop.[7]
