Stanovc

Stanovc is one of biggest villages in Kosovo. It is located near the city of Vučitrn in the Mitrovica District of northeastern Kosovo.[lower-alpha 1] It is made up of two villages: Upper Stanovc[2] and Lower Stanovc.[3] Stanovc is situated between the river Sitnica and the Pristina-Mitrovica road. It is approximately 15 km (9 mi) from the Pristina.

The village has a population of about 3700, and the land is mainly used for agriculture.

The mountain of Čičavica rises to a height of 1,091 m (3,579 ft) to the west of the village.

Notes

  1. The political status of Kosovo is disputed. Having unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008, it is formally recognised as an independent state by 97 UN member states (with another 15 recognising it at some point but then withdrawing recognition), while Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory.
