History

The collective began in 2011 as a loose association of rappers from Croydon in South London. First they called themselves Squeeze 4 P$, then Squeeze Section.[5] They released their first mixtape Sectionly in 2014 as Section Boyz. With the second mixtape Don't Panic, they made it into the top 40 of the British Music Charts the following year and were subsequently honoured as best newcomers at the MOBO Awards. Although they had already made the breakthrough, they were on the list of the Sound of 2016 at the BBC.[6]

In 2016, the award was awarded as the best hip-hop act of the year at the MOBO Awards. This was followed by further mixtapes every year. When she appeared Don't Panic II in 2018, they had previously changed her name to Smoke Boys once again. The tape brought her into the charts once again. Her sixth mixtape All the Smoke in 2020 was also her last joint project.[7]
