Searching 2

Searching 2 is an upcoming American computer screen thriller film written and directed by Nick Johnson and Will Merrick, from a story by Sev Ohanian and Aneesh Chaganty. It is a standalone sequel to the 2018 film Searching, and stars Storm Reid, Nia Long, Joaquim de Almeida, Tim Griffin, Daniel Henney and Amy Landecker.

Searching 2 is a joint-venture production between Stage 6 Films and Timur Bekmambetov's Bazelevs Company, and is set to be released theatrically by Sony Pictures Releasing.

In August 2019, a sequel to Searching (2018) was announced to be in development, with the original film's director, Aneesh Chaganty, clarifying that the story would not "follow the same characters or plot line as the original."[2] In November 2020, producer Natalie Qasabian said the COVID-19 pandemic had postponed the production.[3] In January 2021, it was announced that Will Merrick and Nick Johnson would write and direct the film, marking the duo's directorial debut.[4] In March 2021, Storm Reid entered negotiations to star.[5] The following month, Nia Long officially joined the cast.[6] Principal photography began later on March 30, 2021, and was expected to concluded on May 30, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.[1]
